Dear Sir and Madam,
The objective of the
Conference is presentation of contemporary legal, research,
design and operation issues regarding collection, treatment and
distribution of water as well as wastewater drainage and
treatment. We want to provide a platform for exchange of views
among the representatives of universities, scientific and
research institutions, design firms, environmental protection
divisions, water and wastewater companies, communes, operators
of water-pipe networks and sewerage systems as well as other
companies involved in investments, operation and modernisation
of municipal and industrial water supply and wastewater drainage
systems.
The conference has been
held annually since 2001, and since 2015 we have had the honour
of hosting partners from foreign universities as well as
scientific and implementation institutions. It is a recognised
discussion forum for current issues regarding broadly-understood
water and wastewater economy in Poland. It treats these issues
comprehensively in technical, economic, social and legal
aspects.
In response to the
current challenges affecting management and operation of water
and sewerage systems, the core theme of this year's edition is"
"Reality of the Polish
water and sewerage systems in the conditions of the European
sustainable development policy".
An integral element of
the Conference will be workshops regarding development and
implementation of risk management systems according to the
latest recommendations of the European Union, translating into
legislative changes related, inter alia, to supply of drinking
water. The workshops fall within the framework of the new
approach to water safety, based on water supply risk management,
imposing responsibility and obligations on government agencies,
local authorities and water suppliers. The directive we will be
obliged to implement in the next two years introduces not only
the latest scientific knowledge, but it is also a response to
the civil initiative "Right to Water", indicating the necessity
to provide the EU citizens with access to safe water and
information. According to the new DWD, water suppliers will be
obliged to inform not only about the quality parameters, but
also about such issues as the cost structure or complaints of
consumers. At the concluded trilogue, the parties agreed also
upon the sequence of actions aiming at water leakage prevention
through improvement of the technical condition of the water-pipe
infrastructure. The Members States will have three years to
calculate their water leakage indices based on which the
Commission will determine the average annual leakage index and
the Member States will have two years to prepare plans to reduce
them. The workshops will have a form of practical classes
regarding preparation and implementation of Water Safety Plans
by the water and sewerage enterprises in Poland.
We would like
to once again invite the Participants from
April 21-23 2021.
The event will be held
under the auspices of the Section of Sanitary Engineering in the
Committee on Civil Engineering and Hydroengineering of the
Polish Academy of Sciences.
We are looking forward to seeing you
dr
